Then on to the remote and little known islands of The Andaman & Nicobar Islands, way off the eastern coast of India. Day 1: Arrive Chennai - Puducherry
On arrival, transfer by road to the pretty colonial seaside town of Puducherry and stay at La Villa Hotel. Rest of the day at leisure with car and driver at disposal, no guide
Day 2: Puducherry
Morning sightseeing tour of the old French quarter of Puducherry including a visit to spiritual centre and global township of Auroville. Rest of the day at leisure with car and driver at disposal.
Day 3: Puducherry - Mahabalipuram - Chennai
Morning transfer by road to Chennai with an en-route visit to Mahabalipuram –once a major seaport of the ancient Pallava kingdom and wander round the town’s magnificent, World Heritage–listed temples and carvings that inspire the imagination, especially at sunset. On arrival in Chennai transfer to the ITC Grand Chola Hotel. Rest of the day at leisure
Day 4: Chennai
Spend the morning exploring the city which had strong colonial ties during the days of the East India Company. See the various sights before spending an afternoon at leisure.
Day 5: Chennai - Port Blair - Havelock Island
Morning flight to Port Blair, followed by private boat ride to Havelock Island – a picturesque natural paradise with some of the most spectacular beaches on earth and an abundance of lush green forest. On arrival transfer to intimate boho-chic Jalakara Hotel tucked away in lush jungle landscape. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 6: Havelock Island (Jalakara)
Enjoy the day engaging in variours activities offered or just relax by the pool enjoying the magnificent views of the virgin rainforest.
Day 7: Havelock Island (Jalakara)
Explore island’s white-sand beaches and turquoise waters or go on self-guided nature trails. If you are feeling lazy, just stay put and pamper yourself in the beautiful wellness pavillion.
Day 8: Havelock Island (Barefoot)
Morning check out from Jalakara and transfer to the Barefoot Resort set exclusively on the world famous Beach No.7 amidst pristine tropical forests. The barefoot way of life is a retreat away from the manic digital world: no television or wi-fi in the rooms and mobile and internet connectivity is absent in this remote beachside jungle resort. Day 9: Havelock Island (barefoot)
Engage in various activies from scuba diving, snorkelling, night-time guided kayak tours, nature trails or just hire a moped, to zip around the island.
Day 10: Havelock Island - Port Blair - Kolkata
Today time to leave the beautiful pristine Havelock Island and take a boat ride followed by flight to Kolkata. On arrival transfer to The Astor Hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 11: Kolkata
Spend the day exploring this fascinating city, redolent with history, Victorian architecture and known to have produced some of India’s greatest writers.
Day 12: Kolkata - Delhi
Morning at leisure. Afternoon flight to Delhi
