The signature tour of Sri Lanka takes in the varied highlights of this breathtaking country, incorporating a wonderful mix of heritage, boutique and luxury properties throughout. Begin by exploring the fascinating ruins of the cultural triangle. From the ancient Sinhalese capital of Anuradhapura, epic in both size and history to the intricate cave paintings of Dambulla, the immense Rock Fortress of Sigiriya and the mighty monuments of the other more recent capital, Polonnaruwa, established in the 10th century AD. The final stop along the cultural triangle will end at Kandy, the last capital of the kings. The tour then journeys through the rolling hills of tea country; with a night's stop at the colonial hill station of Nuwara Eliya, before travelling on to the exotic wildlife of Yala National Park. Your tour will end with the colonial charm of the Dutch Galle Fort and a few days relaxing at a picture perfect boutique beach resort.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo – Pannala
Arrive Colombo and transfer to nearby Pannala for 1 night at the charming Notary’s House.
Day 2: Pannala – Sigiriya
After a leisurely start, proceed towards the cultural triangle approxately 4hrs, which is enriched with origins of Sri Lankan history, Buddhism and spirituality. On route you will pass through rural villages and vast coconut estates, before arriving at the enchanting Water Garden Sigiriya, for 2 nights. Afternoon proceed to climb the 5th Century rock citadel of Sigiriya, offering a breathtaking vista of the surrounding landscape.
Day 3: Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya
After breakfast, continue onto the World Heritage site of Polonnaruwa, which remains one of the best planned archaeological relic sites in the country today, before later returning to your hotel. Afternoon excursion with the gentle giants of Sri Lanka. Enjoy a close encounter with some of the domesticated elephants as they are well taken care of and assist with their bathing.
Day 4: Sigiriya - Matale - Kandy
Morning drive, approximately 3hrs, to the world famous spice gardens of Matale, before continuing on to King’s Pavilion in the heart of Kandy. That evening, witness a cultural show at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Day 5: Kandy – Ambewela
Wind your way through the rolling tea plantations on a scenic train journey, arriving into true tea country, at Ambewela Station. Spend 1 night at the old planters mansion, Jetwing Warwick Gardens hotel.
Day 6: Ambewela – Weerawila
After a leisurely breakfast drive approximately 4.5hrs to the great outdoors of Weerawila. Check in at the Flameback Eco Lodge for 2 nights. Afternoon proceed to Yala National Park for game drive.
Day 7: Weerawila - Yala
Enjoy a morning game drive in the beautiful National Park, spotting animals such as wild elephants and leopards in their natural habitat. On returning to the hotel enjoy a cicyle ride to the local village.
Day 8–9: Weerawila - Galle
Morning drive towards the fortified city of Galle and enjoy a historic tour around the fort before settling down by the beach at Aditya Resort for 3 nights.
Day 10: Galle – Colombo – London
Proceed back to Colombo, approximately 3hr drive for onward flight home.
