CULTURE AND COAST OF CENTRAL AND EAST SRI LANKA 10 Days | 9 Nights It is not only the monsoonal patterns that sets the two coasts apart, for where the West Coast is predominantly Sinhalese, the East is mainly Tamil and where the West Coast has always been a tourist hot spot the East remains largely untouched by tourism. Experience traditional hospitality along with the latest comforts, staying at one of the enchanting UGA Escapes hotels situated in the Cultural Triangle and along the East Coast. After time spent exploring the sites and surroundings of the capital Colombo & the ancient ruins of the Cultural Triangle, head to the newly opened East Coast for a whole new beach experience, discovering the elegant UGA Escapes along the way. Until recently, travel to Sri Lanka was very much restricted to the South and West Coast, however now the East Coast is very much accessible, which allows for a delightful holiday from April to September when the South West of the island is usually experiencing the Monsoon.

Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Colombo
Arrive Colombo and transfer to UGA Residence Heritage Hotel for 1 night. Evening walk with Mark Forbes, a well-known Colombo native.
Day 2: Colombo - Pinnawala - Thirippane
After breakfast visit the gentle giants at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage before heading to Thirippane, for a 3 night stay at the luxurious and spacious Ulagalla Resort.
Day 3: Thirippane - Anuradhapura - Thirippane
After breakfast transfer to the vast sacred ruins of Anuradhapura, established around a cutting from the original ‘tree of enlightenment’. Later return to Ulagalla Resort.
Day 4: Thirippane - Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa - Thirippane
After breakfast, proceed to climb the mighty rock citadel of Sigiriya to experience spectacular views, before visiting the ancient ruins and sleeping stone Buddhas of Polonnaruwa. Later returning to Ulagalla Resort.
Day 5: Thirippane - Passikudah
After breakfast transfer to Passikudah for 4 nights stay at the stylish UGA Bay Beach Resort.
Day 6–8: Passikudah
Days at leisure
Day 9: Passikudah - Colombo
Afternoon transfer to domestic airport for your air taxi to Bandaranaike International Airport. On arrival check-in to UGA Residence for 1 night.
Day 10: Colombo - London
Transfer back to Colombo for onward flight home.
